Wherever You May Travel
I LOVE to travel. There is something about that being in motion and discovering a new place, and vantage point on this earth, that just sweeps me off my feet. I could go on about it for days, but I’ll leave it summed up with this quote that I wrote for Roam Adventures:
“Traveling to new destinations is like falling in love. Arriving at the sweetest place inside yourself, mirrored back as the sweetest place outside yourself. Discovering something new, and yet familiar… as if you’d known it all along.”
But as much as I love travel, the truth that I know about it, is that the beauty and wonder that you experience while you are out there in the world, are an experience that comes from within. The world mirrors back how we FEEL about it. It mirrors back our stories about it. If it is beauty we seek, than it is beauty we find. If you approached your everyday life the way you approach a vacation, then you might find the same enchantment, in the most unexpected places, and often right under your nose. We carry the possibility of awe and wonder in us, and when we are tapped into that, by being absolutely present, it does not matter where we are – the world just comes alive. It truly is, as the saying goes, “All in you.”
When you’re rooted in this, then you enjoy every place you travel, so much more. And you see all of the things you might have missed, in seeking outside yourself. It is like the famous quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson says, “Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us… or we find it not.”
